Story Time

Once supper is out of the way the kids start to hover around me. Is it time to read yet?? It is a bit of a tradition around here for me to read to the kids before bed. My ideal is a picture book or two for the little ones and then a novel for the big kids some how I am currently reading;
The Horse and His Boy (again)
The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood
Alone in an Untamed Land (from the Dear Canada Series)
Plus, a book for Hannah and one for Joel. The other night I told the kids to go and get their books for read aloud time, and off they scurried.
My sweet Joel returned with a big grin on his face and gave me this book;
(A book which I borrowed from my brother.) Not quite a bedtime read for a 5 year old.
I looked at Joel and said, “Oh Honey,”I don’t think you’d really like this one.”
He looks at me with those big brown eyes and says, “But I wanted to hear, ‘Jack in the Beanstalk’!”
Thankfully, I have the story of Jack in another book.
Do you have a story time?

If that's Jack & the Beanstalk, Steve Solomon is the grumpy old giant ;D (Wise, but grumpy)

Thanks for stopping by. I did see Samuel's pictures the other day and thought "what a difference between one month and four months!" But I know it will not be long at all before Chloe is sitting in a Bumbo chair too. Right now each of our kids gets individual story time at bed time. I'm finding it to be getting a bit much though and feel like I spend the whole evening putting kids to bed. Not really a bad thing, but then I don't get to work on things myself because the evening is gone. I think I will try to start doing a group story time instead.Have a lovely day! 🙂

I can see how he could think that book was Jack and the Beanstalk. 🙂

we don't..but i've been trying to get the kids to sit longer while i read to them…how are the kids liking the dear canada books? i found another one at the used book store and picked it up…even though they're meant for youth, i still enjoy the history in them!
