Making Your Home a HAVEN!! Week #4

It has been busy around here.  I have been slowly finding ways to better organize around here.  I attacked my junk drawers yep I have 2.  Although now one contains kitchen items (mostly) so I think I am down to one junk drawer.

It has occurred to me that perhaps not everyone has as many spots that need organizing.  I have had a year of things building up.  I’m not talking mess necessarily but with being in the hospital with Joel for 10 weeks and then entering into treatment, being pregnant and then a new baby things just aren’t as orderly as they could be.  I have some storage bins that I have been tossing clothing that the kids have outgrown in.  I want to go through those bins and decide what I want to save and organize them.  Some of the closets need some TLC, and our homeschool room is now tidy but over crowded so I need to weed out some items. I could go on and on basement, summer kitchen…

There are lots of other ways to make your home a haven.  For me currently my focus is organizing.  I want to sort through storage bins, toys, books, closets, cupboards etc. and bring order.  Maybe this isn’t an issue for you but perhaps you are still looking for ways to make your home into a haven.  Look for the stressers in your life, as I said, for me more then anything I need to have everything orderly and I need to thin out what we have.  Maybe things are too noisy, perhaps the kids need a little more outside time to burn off excess energy. How about doing a study on some classical music and finding something that gives you that relaxed vibe you have been desiring?  Everyones stressers can be different we need to figure out what things are causing us to stress and then deal with them.

As for our hearts…

Jeremiah 29:13-14
…Seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord…

So often we allow the busyness of our lives to get in the way.  Whether it is keeping our homes running and ship shape, taking the kids here and there.  Maybe we have lots of outside activities and are spreading ourselves too thin.   The question we need to ask ourselves is, have we let all these things get in the way of our relationship with the Lord?   If you seek Him with all your heart He will be found.   This week before you start any tiding, organizing etc. stop first and spend some time in prayer, to clean out your heart, and seek Him with all of your heart!!
