Bug bites
Last summer we had a terrible time with Hannah and mosquito bites she would really swell up and the bites lasted for weeks some it took a few months for the skin to completely heal. I was hoping that her being a year older this summer would be better. It isn’t even summer yet and she is reacting to the bites. I have included pictures of her unfortunately they are kind of hard to see. I am hoping that some one out there will have some advice; a) for prevention & b) for treatment. Here she is you can see the redness on her arm.
Some closer shots she did not really like us taking pictures.
Here is the next day
And this is today
I think they are mosquito bites but they could be black fly I guess, however there was never any blood. Hoping someone has some good advice.
Thanks in advance!!!

I don't know where you live but they look a lot like Chigger bites (Red Bugs) – the last picture liiks like my kids' Chiggers after a couple weeks (unfortunately, we've had a lot of experience with them). My kids and husband don't get the initial blister but get a tough red bump with a pin center. If they are Chiggers they will take some time to heal and they itch terribly. There isn't much you can do about them but wait. ToothPASTE usually helps with the itch. Benadryl if she is really miserable.I can't say for sure if they are Chiggers but they sure do look like them.

Here is some quick research that I did with Dr. Google~~Chiggers…http://pediatrics.about.com/od/dermatologytopics/a/06_chiggers.htmhttp://www.howstuffworks.com/question488.Mosquito bites…http://www.drhull.com/EncyMaster/M/mosquito_bites.htmlI agree with the previous comment~Benadryl would be a good thing to use and it may make Hannah tired so that she doesn't scratch initially and they can heal better. It also looks like she may have to be the kid who wears long sleeves/pants/socks and shoes until this thing doesn't happen anymore! Good luck!C

You could try Eden Salve from Bulk Herb Store. It stops the itch and helps healing.

My son is 13 and has been suffereing from bites like this every summer for 10+ years… He HAS to use an insect repellent if he goes outside..if he doesn't he gets the same oozing bites….The only way we can stop them is always use insect repellent.

My 13 year old son has suffered from the same oozing bites for 10+ years. He has to use an insect repellent. We just know it's a have to or he sufferes horrible bites and allergic reactions. Just keep her skin protected.
