Ahh there are few things I enjoy as much as a fresh start. I love new days, the first of the week, a new school year, and of course, a brand new year! A NEW YEAR, with no mistakes in it yet, oh they will come, I know that, but it is fresh with endless possibilities and hopes and dreams.
This year, more than other years, I seem to be full of expectations. I could be wrong and this year could turn out to be just like any other. I just seem to have this feeling. It took us a long time to bounce back after Joel’s cancer. While Joel’s life is not without its struggles we have fallen into a rhythm with Joel and we continue to push forward. It has taken a long time to, for lack of a better phrase, dig out. Life seemed to pile up around us during that time and we seem to be nearing the end of the pile.
It is time to shake off the past and plunge forward. I have quiet dreams that I am afraid to speak into the light, they are still in their infancy and I need to hold them close just yet. That said I hope over the next few months I will be brave enough to share some of my ideas here.
Dave and I have set a number of goals for the coming year. It is exciting to sit together and talk about our hopes and dreams. I love how God has knit our hearts together so much that our dreams are one. It wasn’t always that way. I wouldn’t say that we were headed in two different directions but we definitely had different ideas about the future. We decided to really commit ourselves to praying together and prayed for a united vision for our family. That has made all the difference.
As for my blog, it is my hope to be here more regularly. I failed miserably at the picture a day challenge, my hat is off to all of the bloggers out there who have accomplished said goal. I cannot begin to tell you how much guilt that created in me, that I was unable to keep up with it. I won’t, at this point, commit to writing weekly featured posts although I do have some topics that I am hoping to cover in a rather frequent manner. I am looking forward to this New Year for so many reasons and one of them is connecting with each of you!
