I think I am possibly the last royal watcher to way in on toady’s events. I am not a die hard royal watcher, I do not own any china with their images on it. Yet, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know who the Queen of England was. I remember in grade school waking up early to watch Charles and Dianna wed. I followed them as they had each of their boys and I remember where I was when I first heard of Dianna’s death. So when I debated whether or not I really wanted to get up sooo early to watch Will and Kate get married I decided I couldn’t pass it up.
Taliah woke me up at 3am, I have been fighting a nasty virus and couldn’t pull myself out of bed right at 3 but by 4am Samuel and I were watching all of the guests arrive. (Incidentally, my computer picked up a virus too and that is why I have been missing in action :D)
I thought Kate looked lovely, the ceremony was elegant. Hannah wants to have a dress like Kate’s and Joel wants to grow up to be a soldier riding one of those fantastic horses. They truly look like the fairy tale couple.
As a citizen of the common wealth, the Queen is our Head of State and so we keep her and her family in our prayers. I pray that they have a long and happy marriage.
So what is it that attracts more then 2 billion people to tune in and watch? What is our fascination with, ‘The Royals’? Could it be that we all long for a good and kind King? One to reign over us and rule fairly. How about a noble and just King, how about the King of all Creation? We all have an intricate part of our make up that longs for the King of Kings. Maybe when we look at our worldly nobility we get the tiniest glimpse of what it will be like to look upon our Heavenly King.
What little girl at some point in time has not wished she too was a princess. I know I have, even today I could not help but think how fun it would be to put on a beautiful gown and climb into a beautiful horse drawn carriage. Oh, I wouldn’t trade my life for anything, not the poopie diapers, the laundry piles or trips to the hospital with my sweet Joel. Life comes in all different packages and mine has 6 beautiful children, a devoted husband and yes, a lot of laundry. Kate’s life will be far different than mine, yet there is something that makes us more similar then you might think.
You see, if you recognize that you too are a sinner. (Romans 3:23 …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.) That you need a Saviour, that Jesus died for your sins. (John 14:6 No one comes to the Father except through me.) If you receive Jesus then you have access to the Father. (John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.) He is our Father and our Father is the King of Kings. Which ladies whether you are young or old, if you have received JESUS, then you are a daughter of the Most High King. You are a Princess!!!
As for the fellas that read this blog, obviously this does not exclude you, if you have received Jesus as your Saviour then you too are a part of this royal heritage.
Blessings!
